How Much Does It Cost?

We charge $35 for the first child in a family to join our scouting program and then $15 for each additional child to join either our troop or cub scout pack. This is an annual fee. Adult volunteers pay $20 annually.  Our troop pays approximately $90 per scout to Boy Scouts of America.  Our troop and cub scout pack do fundraising to help pay for the additional cost of membership with Boy Scouts of America and our program. We sell a lot of popcorn in the fall which helps YOU pay for attending camping events and the additional membership costs. We also have pancake breakfasts, can drives and other events to raise funds.  We take advantage of these fundraisers to help our scouts learn how to run a business. Yes, how to run a business. Our scouts actually asked us to teach them these skills. So our fundraising events involve training and skill building, as well as having fun. These are important life skills.

Do Parents Have To Help?

That's up to you. We welcome whatever help you can lend. Our group of parents are a fairly tight knit group.  We appreciate as much help as possible in working behind the scenes to support the scouts.  The good news is, Our troop is scout led.  The boys do a lot of the work. They plan, they implement. They fund raise. They lead.  Adults support. Adults guide. Adults review for safety.  It's a fun mixture!

Where Do I Find the Clothing and Other Supplies, Needed?

Our Troop requires scouts wear the official uniform shirt and hat. We do not require a neckerchief. We suggest you consider purchasing a pair of kahki pants that match the uniform. The great folks at the National Scout Store in Syracuse can help you get outfitted with the gear and uniform supplies needed.
